Stereoviews of Camp Alger during the Spanish-American War [graphic], 1898. 1898.

The collection chiefly contains views of typical camp life scenes. Of interest are African American troops in skirmish drill, a review day held for President McKinley and a portrait of Secretary of War Russell Alger, for whom the camp was named. Specifically identified Regiments include the 8th Ohio (President's Own), the 3rd New York, and the 6th Illinois. A scene of the New York Cavalry Squadron on parade in their pith helmets has been incorrectly identified as the 13th Hussars at Pretoria South Africa. Publishers, distributors and copyright holders include B. W. Kilburn, Littleton, N.H.; James M. Davis, N.Y., N.Y.; M. H. Zahner, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Griffith & Griffith, Philadelphia, Penna.; J. F.
